Course Assessment Method
You will be internally assessed via:
> Multiple choice examination
> Portfolio of evidence
> Practical demonstration / assignment
You will need 4 GCSEs at grade D-E including English and maths or a level 1 qualification in the relevant area.
You will be required to attend an interview at the college for all courses and Apprenticeships and we will request a school or college report.
A good level of ICT knowledge is required. Some experience of gym-based exercises, including free weights, is highly recommended. The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary.
There is also an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and therefore learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at Level 2.
What does it Cost?
This course is free if you are 16-18 years of age on August 31 of the calendar year in which you begin your studies. If you are 19+ years of age fees may apply. However help may be available. To see if you can receive any funding call our Student Services Team on 01325 503030.
Course fees are payable to Darlington College. Registration and membership fees may be payable. All course fees are per year.

This course will equip you with skills and techniques to ensure you are competently prepared for employment in the ever growing industry of health and fitness. It will enable you to prescribe, plan and deliver safe and effective exercise programmes within a gym or health club and also start you on your way with Strength and Conditioning.

You can progress straight into employment within the fitness industry as a gym/fitness instructor or progress to the Level 3 Personal Training and Conditioning course and then onto our L4 Personal Training qualifications. There are a number of other qualifications to compliment the Level 2 course.
