Course Assessment Method
By your tutor through a range of methods This could include direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments.
You will need 5 GCSE subjects with 4 points or C grade and above, including 4 points or C grade in English or maths. Alternatively progression from Level 2 Diploma in Childcare and Education at grade B or above, as well as GCSE English or maths at Grade C or above. You must also supply details of two personal referees who are not relatives and the college will write to them to obtain up to date references to support your application. You will require a clear enhanced DBS form otherwise you will not be accepted onto this course.
You will be required to attend an interview at the college.
What does it Cost?
Full time further education course tuition fees are free if you are 16-18 years of age on August 31 of the calendar year in which you begin your studies, however if you are 19 years or over tuition fees will apply.

The qualification you will receive on completion of this study programme is, Level 3 Diploma Supporting Teaching and Learning.
The course will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children or young people in school environments.
The course is suitable for those wanting to pursue a career or currently in the role as a teaching assistant, learning support assistant, parent support advisers learning mentors or similar roles at Level 3.
Anyone wishing to apply for this course must also complete the suitability declaration form which will be sent to you at the point we invite you to interview.
This course enables and encourages you to develop your skills and acquire relevant knowledge to enter the world of employment. The structure of this qualification ensures you are placed in a real work environment for minimum of two days per week. You have to attend tutor led sessions, practical sessions, workshops and tutorials. A variety of teaching methods are implemented in order to offer maximum learning opportunities throughout the programme of study. Real Work placements will consist of a primary/secondary setting for a minimum of 300 hours (2 days per week).
