You are expected to have achieved a Level 3 qualification in an appropriate subject. Mature students are welcome to apply and relevant work experience will be taken into account. You are expected to be in relevant employment and have the support of your employer.
This is a two year course taught one morning or afternoon and evening a week. In the first year you will study six modules. Each has been chosen to provide you with a range of knowledge and skills that will allow you to apply your learning in a broad context, regardless of your current work environment. The second year has five modules and builds upon the foundations of year one.
You will be taught by a small team of lecturers with skills and experience gained in a range of business environments. Planned teaching sessions will be supported by tutorials and reading tasks.
The course is extremely rewarding, you will study with like minded people from different backgrounds. You will learn how to push your limits and expand your knowledge across current boundaries. Previous students have spoken about the confidence that they have gained following the course and how it has enabled them to gain promotion and progress within their work environment. They have also become more aware of the changing nature of business and wider society and their place within it.
It is a demanding course and will require you to engage with readings and assignments outside of the classroom regularly.
This course will cover most topics that you will require to successfully manage a business, no matter how big or small. You will also develop team working and communication skills.

Course Assessment Method
The majority of modules have two assignments, one mid way through and the other at the end of the module. Some modules are 14 weeks long others last 28 weeks.
You will be assessed by work based projects as well as written reports, essays and individual or group presentations.
This course emphasises the tactical and operational aspects of business management. It provides a foundation of good practice in problem solving, analysis and managing in business.
The Foundation Degree in Business Management is an advanced qualification in its own right. In addition it offers you the opportunity to progress to the BA (Hons) Business Management Degree with Teesside University.
