You will need 4 GCSEs at 3 points or D grade and above. Alternatively you will need a Diploma in Hairdressing Level 1.
You will be required to attend an interview at the college and we will request a school or college report.
You need to have good literacy skills, as well as being naturally creative, be able to work as part of a team, have a friendly personality and enjoy working with clients.
This course will provide you with a range of creative hairdressing skills and knowledge to prepare you for a career in the hairdressing industry.
If you have not achieved a C or 4 grade or above in English or maths, you will as part of your course be required to work towards this as part of your study programme. If you have already achieved these grades you will complete an enterprise self study programme. You will be given the opportunity to go on work experience at certain times during your course.
To develop your employability opportunities you may also be given enrichment classes. This may focus upon additional qualifications, industrial updating and career preparation.
You will learn through practical demonstrations, practice and theory as well as through e-learning. This course enables you to develop the necessary interpersonal skills as well as the appropriate ' on the job' skills. You will be taught using up to date resources that are appropriate to your individual learning style. Lessons are in the form of practical workshops, classes, and tutorials.

Course Assessment Method
GOLA online multiple choice tests, project tasks and practical assessments in the salon.
You can progress on to a Level 3 qualification or go on to an Apprenticeship. Alternatively you can venture into a career in hairdressing salons.
