Course Name: Level 2 Hair Part-Time

Entry Requirements

This course is aimed at people over 19 years of age. No formal qualifications are required, however knowledge of hairdressing or life skills would be an advantage.

You will be required to attend an interview at the college for this course and we will request a school or college report.

You will need: a bank of models willing to let you practice on their hair, a kit, uniform and stationery.

What's Involved

This is an intensive hairdressing course which requires total commitment and attendance for the duration of the course and is designed for anyone wanting a new challenge or to update their skills.

You will learn through practical demonstrations, practice and theory as well as through e-learning. This course enables you to develop the necessary interpersonal skills as well as the appropriate 'on the job' skills. You will be taught using up to date resources that are appropriate to your individual learning style.

Lessons are in the form of practical workshops, classes, and tutorials:

> Working in the hair industry

> Following health and safety in the salon

> Client consultation for hair services

> Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp

> Promote products and services to clients in a salon

> Cut women's hair

> Colour and lighten hair

> Perm and neutralise hair

> The art of dressing hair

> Create an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector

> Plaiting and twisting hair

Course Assessment Method

GOLA online multiple choice tests and practical assessments in the salon.

What's Next

You could progress onto the Level 3 Hairdressing course. Alternatively you could find employment as a hair stylist, work in a spa, work on a cruise liner or in TV/film/theatre.
