You will be internally assessed via:
> Coursework – Two worksheets and an assignment
> Portfolio of evidence
> Practical demonstration - Palpation
> Five summative observations – Client assessment and treatment planning (ankle or knee, hip, spine, shoulder, elbow or wrist)
> Critical evaluation.

On completion of this course you are required to be competent in anatomy and the physiology of the major joints of the body, understand the influences and effects of client information on treatment planning, understand the principles and practice of objective assessment techniques, be able to conduct subjective and objective assessment leading to development of a sport massage treatment plan. You will be able to treat and/or seek to correct common patterns of dysfunction in order to reduce pain and improve performance.
You can move on to study further qualifications such as:

> Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Personal Training (QCF)
> Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training and Business Skills for Fitness Professionals (QCF)
> Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Health and Fitness (QCF)
> Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Instructing Pilates Matwork (QCF)
> Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Yoga (QCF)
> Level 4 special populations qualifications.
Learners have the opportunity to work as a Sports Massage therapist in health clubs, sports clubs or self-employed due to understanding treatment modalities to support soft tissue repair.
