This qualification is aimed at anyone who has a responsibility for safeguarding children, young people or vulnerable adults. It will be particularly useful for people working in early years, schools, youth work and other education and training settings.
This important course covers current topics in safeguarding. The learner will examine types of abuse, changes to government guidance and legislation and reflect on their role in relation to safeguarding. The Prevent Duty will be studied including the concepts of radicalisation, extremism and how to support reducing the risks. Online safety will also be explored, looking at inappropriate and illegal online activity in addition to how to reduce the risks posed online.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, although experience and knowledge of working with children, young people and vulnerable adults would be beneficial. You will need to be 19+ at the start of the course.
Understanding Safeguarding and Prevent
During this 10 week course, you will achieve the following:

What you will learn:
> Unit 1 - Understanding the Prevent Duty
> Unit 2 - Understanding Safeguarding
> Unit 3 - Understanding Online Safety
Course Assessment Method
You will be assessed by completing small assignments and workbooks marked internally by your tutor
Time will be allocated for assignment workshops and tutorials to help support each learner.
All learners can use the new gained information and qualification to enhance their personal and professional development.
Depending on previous study and qualifications this course could enhance your career pathway into safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults. This qualification may support progression towards the role of designated safeguarding lead.
