What's Involved

The UAL Awarding Body Level 3 Applied General Diploma and Extended Diploma in Art & Design has been designed to provide the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress to degree-level study in art and design, or into an apprenticeship or employment.

The one-year Diploma is worth up to 84 UCAS points.

The two-year Extended Diploma is equivalent to 3 A* Levels and is worth up to 168 UCAS points (Distinction*).

The course provides an opportunity for those who have an interest in the visual arts to explore, develop and test their creativity in a stimulating environment. Learners will continue into the second year of study, into an Extended Diploma, if they are successful in achieving their Diploma.

We believe that ideas development flourishes with a curious and experimental approach that allows for mistakes to influence the creative process without compromising final grades. You will develop these skills through exploring materials, methods and processes, build a portfolio and make informed decisions about your practice and progression.

Throughout the course we also deliver core skills in drawing, contextual studies and personal professional development in a range of learning experiences including practical and technical workshops which include Graphic Design, Printmaking, Fine Art & Mixed Media, 2D/3D and Time-based Media, and Photography.

We are extremely proud of all our learners and celebrate their achievements in a Summer Exhibition where they showcase their independent Final Major Project work.
