Course Assessment Method
Units are assessed internally and marked by your tutor. You must achieve a D grade/pass grade to be awarded the unit.
There will be one externally marked, controlled assessment.
When assessing competence, direct observation of learners in a real work environment (placement) covering all the following age ranges:
> 0 to 1 year 11 months
> 2 to 2 years 11 months
> 3 to 5 years
You will need to have successfully completed the NCFE CACHE Technical Level 3 Certificate in Childcare and Education.
What does it Cost?
This course is free if you are 16-18 years of age on August 31 of the calendar year in which you begin your studies. If you are 19+ years of age fees may apply. However help may be available. To see if you can receive any funding call our Student Services Team on 01325 503030.
Course fees are payable to Darlington College. Registration and membership fees may be payable. All course fees are per year.

The Technical Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator) prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years, or access Higher Education. Students will access 750 hours of practical work experience covering the age ranges from birth to 5 years.
For this course you will spend 2 days in placement and 3 days in college.

As part of your level 3 study programme there is an expectation that learners will participate in the Government Industrial Placement trial during their course placement element.
For participating in the trial learners will receive extra benefits such as pay for food and travel, reimbursed DBS and uniform fees and a financial bonus on successful completion*

Upon achievement of this qualification learners will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators or access Higher Education.
