Level 3 Extended Certificate in Business and Advanced Diploma in Accounting


Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs Grade 4 or above (A*-C) including GCSE maths and English or an appropriate level 2 qualification (at a merit if graded) and a satisfactory school report. For this programme your maths grade must be grade 5 or above.

We will request a school or college report and you will attend an interview at the college.

What's Involved

This study programme is designed to give you the skills required for a career in business with a strong focus on accountancy based roles. In year one you will complete an AAT Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping and an Extended Certificate in Business. On successful completion of the first year you will be able to continue on to an AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting and a Diploma in Business. If you complete both years of the study programme it is equivalent to 3 A-Levels and attracts UCAS points to progress on to University.

As part of the Advanced Diploma in Accountancy you may study:

> Management Accounting

> Accounts Preparation

As part of the Extended Certificate in Business you may study:

> Exploring Business

> Marketing

> Finance

> Recruitment and Selection

Course Assessment Method

For the Extended Certificate in Business you will be required to undertake two externally set and assessed exams (Finance and Marketing) and then there are two further assignment based modules.

The AAT Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping and the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting are all externally assessed through a number of external exams.

What's Next

Successful completion of the 2 years will allow you to progress to a University programme in business, finance or accounting or into industry via a relevant apprenticeship.

What does it Cost?

This course is free if you are 16-18 years of age on August 31 of the calendar year in which you begin your studies. If you are 19+ years of age fees may apply. However help may be available. To see if you can receive any funding call our Student Services Team on 01325 503030.

Course fees are payable to Darlington College. Registration and membership fees may be payable. All course fees are per year.
