The need for secure digital systems is more crucial than ever before, as we rely on computerised systems and networks to collect, process, store and transfer vast amounts of data and to control critical systems in a local area network, globally and in the cloud.
This Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma in IT course gives you the chance to develop skills in the ethical use of computers and networking, technical support, enterprise skills and computer systems. An “all round” perspective is delivered allowing you to focus and harness your own potential to lead onto a higher education programme or the beginning of a successful career.
The cyber security industry is expanding at a rapid rate and this course has been designed to enable you to gain the knowledge and understanding of the range of threats, vulnerabilities and risks that impact on both individuals and organisations. You will learn about the solutions that can be used to prevent or deal with cyber security incidents resulting from these challenges. You will be able to apply your knowledge and understanding of cyber security issues and solutions by reviewing and making recommendations for ways to best protect digital systems and information. The learning within the course will also support the Cisco and CompTIA industry qualifications.

Course Assessment Method
There are a number of mandatory units which include externally set and marked assessments which are a mixture of exams and written assignments.
Career opportunities exist to enter the industry at junior level in many job roles, including:

We do recommend further study if you are wishing to progress within these roles.
Cambridge Technicals provide a strong base for progression to university, apprenticeships or work and are recognised for UCAS tariff points.

What does it Cost?
This course is free if you are 16-18 years of age on August 31 of the calendar year in which you begin your studies.

Course fees are payable to Darlington College. Registration and membership fees may be payable. All course fees are per year.
