Course Assessment Method
Assessment is throughout the year and includes coursework, portfolio of evidence, practical demonstrations/assignments and presentations. At the end of each year learners will complete an externally assessed unit which combines all topics taught into a final major project assessment. You will achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction outcome at the end of your academic year.
4 GCSEs with 4 points or C grade and above, including 4 points or C grade in English or maths. Candidates are encouraged to gain points in all subjects taken. Alternatively, you will need an appropriate Level 2 qualification at merit grade and a satisfactory school report. We will request a school or college report and you will attend an interview at the college.
A good level of ICT knowledge is required.
You will need to have a pass at Foundation Diploma (year 1) level to progress into your Extended Diploma (year 2) of this course.

What does it Cost?
This course is free if you are 16-18 years of age on August 31 of the calendar year in which you begin your studies. If you are 19+ years of age fees may apply. However help may be available. To see if you can receive any funding call our Student Services Team on 01325 503030.
Course fees are payable to Darlington College. Registration and membership fees may be payable. All course fees are per year.

From dance skills to acting technique, lighting and sound to event planning, this course is able to offer it all. Working closely with industry professionals and graduates from prestigious universities and stage schools this course will push every student towards best working practices within the field.
The course is geared towards practical and vocational work, which will establish basic skills and good working practises for performers, as well as seeking to develop your experience and imagination in performance.

We have partnered with the Darlington Hippodrome and you will attend both the Darlington College site and also the Darlington Hippodrome for your lessons. Our practical teaching and assessment takes place at the Darlington Hippodrome. You will be given the opportunity to perform at the Darlington Hullabaloo children's theatre as part of your progression with us, with key assessments being undertaken during live shows. This allows you to blend classroom theory with real world practical studies, which will be essential in your future employability as a performer.
Career opportunities exist to enter the industry in many job roles, including dancers, teachers, choreographers, technicians and managers.
This is the first year of a two year progression route. You will need to have a pass at Foundation Diploma level in year 1 to progress into your Extended Diploma on year 2 of this course.
