T Level Technical Qualification in Education and Childcare - Early Years Education (Level 3)

Entry Requirements

5 GCSE’s grade 4 or above or successful completion of a relevant Level 2 study programme (including Maths and English at 5 or above).

What's Involved

The core element of a T Level in Education and Childcare will boost your knowledge in a range of topics such as child development, safeguarding and special educational needs; as well as your understanding of the role of families and support agencies. You’ll also dive into the specifics of social interaction, behaviour, and how language is acquired, as well as build your skills in becoming a reflective practitioner.

You’ll then focus on Early Years Education, a specialism designed to support your interests, so you can get deeper into Childcare and Education and build up the skills you need for your future job.

Then you’ll be able to put everything you learn into practice, with a substantial industry placement of 750 hours.

This will give you an amazing opportunity to work with an employer while you study, such as a private nursery or nursery school, and gain invaluable experience as well as key skills that employers are looking for.

The Early Years Educator Specialism Components include;

• Support and promote children’s play, development and early education

• Develop relationships with children to facilitate their development

• Plan, provide and review care, play and educational opportunities to enable children to progress

• Safeguard and promote the health, safety and wellbeing of children

• Work in partnership with colleagues, parents, carers and other professionals to support children’s development.

Course Assessment Method

There are two written examinations and an employer-set project for the Core Component which will be graded A*-E and U.

Synoptic assignments are used to assess the Occupational Specialism which is graded Distinction/Merit/Pass and Ungraded.

750 hours of industry placement must also be completed.

What's Next

Upon successful achievement of this qualification learners will be able to enter the workforce as an Early Years Educator or access Higher Education for Primary Teaching.

UCAS points have been awarded for this qualification as follows: D* = 168, D = 144, M = 120, P (C+) = 96, P (D or E) = 72.
