What's Involved
Those achieving the Level 4 Procurement Apprenticeship will develop commercial capability that is vital in the procurement sector and valued across every sector. In the sector a commercial professional’s role is to support the transformation of the way that the best quality services are delivered, whilst securing value for money. Experience will be gained working on high profile, high value, high risk projects that affect millions of people and are worth billions of pounds each year.
The Apprenticeship programme is developed using the Procurement Cycle as its focus, you will:
- Learn about the core principles, concepts and practical applications when procuring goods or services
- Gain essential knowledge and practical skills in contracting, negotiation, supplier relationships, ethics and asset management
- Understand how procurement fits within the rest of your organisation and how it can help to shape key future business decisions
Based at the same level as a first year of an undergraduate degree course, you will be equipped with essential knowledge and tools that you can apply immediately in your workplace.
Units of study are:
- Scope and influence of supply
- Business needs
- Commercial contracts
- Ethical Sourcing
- Commercial Negotiations
- Relationship Management
- Whole life asset management
- Procurement and supply in practice
Assessment of each unit will be an exam and there are six opportunities to sit exams throughout the year
This is the highest entry point onto our diploma qualifications.
In addition, a workplace portfolio will be produced that will demonstrate competency across a range of knowledge, skills, and behaviours. The portfolio evidence will consist largely of activities carried out as part of the Apprentice’s job role.
Following enrolment, you will be registered as a member of the CIPS. This will provide you with access to a wealth of resources for the programme.
Course Assessment Method
Each module of the Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply qualification is assessed through a formal examination externally set by CIPS. The L4 Diploma must be achieved before progressing to the End Point Assessment. The End Point Assessment must be successfully achieved to complete the Apprenticeship programme.
The End Point Assessment:
Each Apprenticeship standard is concluded with a competency test called the End Point Assessment. You must have achieved the Diploma in Procurement and Supply (Level 4), English and maths at Level 2 and have agreement of your project title and scope to progress to End Point Assessment.
For the Procurement and Supply standard this assessment consists of the following elements:
- Project Report
- Presentation and Questioning
This is graded fail, pass or distinction
