Course Assessment Method
You will be assessed by your tutor using a range of methods. This could include a portfolio of evidence and written evidence such as designing charts or leaflets, coursework or methods such as oral questioning.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal qualifications, however a keen interest in health or childcare is essential.
You will be required to attend an interview at the college and we will request a school or college report.
What does it Cost?
This course is free if you are 16-18 years of age on August 31 of the calendar year in which you begin your studies. If you are 19+ years of age fees may apply, however help may be available. To see if you can receive any funding call our Student Services Team on 01325 503030. Course fees are payable to Darlington College. Registration and membership fees may be payable. All course fees are per year.

What's Involved
This course will give you an introduction into health and social care & childcare. As part of this qualification, you will also achieve a Healthy Living Certificate and First Aid Certificate.
You will have to attend a real working environment for a minimum of 1 day in the year. You will also learn the key areas of health and social care & childcare which will help with progression into the health or childcare environment or Level 2 course. You will have to attend Maths and English sessions as part of the programme.
You have to attend tutor led sessions, practical sessions, workshops and tutorials. A variety of teaching methods are implemented to offer maximum learning opportunities throughout the programme of study.
What's Next
Progression onto the Level 2 Diploma in Health or Childcare.
