Maths, English and ESOL

Subject Overview

The Maths and English Department delivers a wide range of qualifications all externally accredited by Edexcel ranging from Entry Level(s) through to GCSE accreditation.

Functional Skills are offered in both subjects and taught on a part-time basis with both daytime and evening lessons. Accreditation is available from Entry Level 1 up to Level 2. These adult return to learn courses are free of charge.

GCSEs in Maths and English are offered on a part-time basis both daytime and evenings. Tuition is free and both are externally examined;

Maths – 21 May 2019 (Paper 1), 6 June (Paper 2), 11 June (Paper 3)

English – 4 June 2019 (Paper 1), 7 June (Paper 2)

ESOL – We teach English for Speakers of Other Languages from Entry (E) 1 through to Level (L) 2. There are 3 separate courses available to suit your level of English: Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing.

To enrol on ESOL, you need to bring to these sessions:

  • NI number (if you have one),
  • proof of residency (for non-EU residents),
  • ability to pay for the course, OR
  • documents in support of being in receipt of benefits.

Classes may be free if you earn < £16,009.50 p.a.
