Darlington College welcomed guests from the Cornmill Centre this week as they dropped by to check on the progress our first year Level 3 Engineering students are making designing keyrings to celebrate the centre’s 30th anniversary this year.

Bird Boxes have flown in as Level 1 and 2 Carpentry and Joinery students  designed and built these boxes for the Cornmill Centre, Darlington.

t levels speed networking event ictLevel 3 IT students (Year 2 Software and Hardware) gained invaluable networking experience this morning during a speed networking event in our Learning Resource Centre, organised by our Placement Coaches that sought to prepare students for their industry placement and T Levels.

Students had the opportunity to match their CV to the employer who they’ll be joining for their placement in the coming weeks. This follows a similar event for our Beauty Therapy students last month.

A massive thank you to Tees Valley Arts, On Track Learning and Resilient Business Systems for their time this morning.

Darlington College’s Level 3 Beauty students gained invaluable networking experience this morning during a speed networking event in our Glasshouse Restaurant, organised by our Placement Coaches that sought to prepare students for their industry placement and T Levels.

With high profile employers attending who are providing the placements, students had the opportunity to match their CV to the employer who they’ll be joining for their placement in the coming weeks.

The event was a fantastic success with the employers delighted with the dedication and how prepared the students were for the event.

A massive thank you to Bannatyne Spa, Swinton Estate Spa, Rockliffe Hall, Redworth Hall Hotel, the Beauty Rooms, Richmond.

Industry Placement NewsIndustry placement success as Level 3 Beauty Therapy student Leigha Reynolds completes her placement with the Beauty Rooms, in Richmond.

Such was the positive experience gained that Beauty Rooms owner, Julie, offered Leigha a full time position after her placement – fantastic!

IP Natasha Walker

Natasha Walker, who is on the Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning course, joined Northwood Primary School as part of her College placement in September 2020 – June 2021.

Working alongside their Year 1 children, they have all ‘thoroughly enjoyed having her in their class. She has joined in class activities with lots of enthusiasm and has encouraged others to do the same’

Northwood Primary have wished her ‘all the best for the future’ and are sure that her love of learning will take her far in life.

IP Outdoor Ambition

A ‘prime’ achievement for Darlington College student Max after being awarded a £100 Amazon voucher for completing his Industry Placement, as a part of the Outdoor Activity Leadership Course.

Max worked as an assistant Activity Coordinator at Outdoor-Ambition Ltd, working with different groups with the majority being in the adventure environment, developing his skills and confidence in running outdoor activities effectively with the support and supervision of Outdoor Ambition Managing Director Lloyd Murray.
